Ford will begin to ship its Canadian-made Edge crossover to China, the automaker said today.
Aside from different foglights, headlights, and license plate frame, the Edge being shipped is identical to the North American model. It’ll be the first Ford with MyTouch with Sync and will make its debut at the 2010 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition on April 23.
Officials say that even with steep shipping and a hefty import duty of around 25 percent, the automaker will make a small profit on each vehicle. They’re still tight-lipped as to when and how many Edges will arrive in Chinese ports.
The Edge will join the new Focus at the brand’s display and like other Ford models, will be built in the country beginning in 2012.
