The world’s largest auto market is going to be on par with the US after Ford has announced plans to also distribute the 2017 F-150 Raptor SuperCrew high-performance pickup truck in China.
Starting next year the best F-150 out there, the Raptor, is going to be imported from North America once production starts at the Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan. The novelties end here though, as the model will be exactly the same in terms of technical specifications as the US-spec version, carrying the EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6 engine linked to the all-new ten-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system equipped with a torque-on-demand transfer case. The total output will go beyond 411 horsepower (306 kilowatts) and 434 pound-feet (588 Newton meters), meaning the 2017 F-150 Raptor SuperCrew is going to be one off-road monster – its credentials are arguably making it just as fast on the tarmac as potent while driving on unbeaten paths.
The Chinese market has already received the Mustang as part of the company’s performance offerings and the muscle car is already the top selling offering around the world. Fans of the Blue Oval might be also enticed by the fact that Ford is planning to bring to China the Focus RS hot hatch and even the mighty GT supercar. By the way, the Chinese owners will pay a small fortune for the latter, since it is tipped to sell for about $450,000 and they also need to factor in the 25 percent consumption tax and the 17 percent value-added tax.
