Ford’s Fiesta is the best-selling subcompact in Europe image

After the first six months of the year have passed the best small class model on sale across the continent is Ford’s Fiesta, with almost 174, 000 units.

In its sixth generation and presented back in September 2007 as a 2008 model at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Fiesta has always been a prime time actor of the European continent. And while it has been a mostly European-flavored car, Ford’s drive to establish a global pattern for its models has also touched the small model, with production under way in Germany, Spain, China, Thailand and Mexico. The model has already been updated during its life as a mid life facelift designed to highlight its appeal even further, taking on the signature trapezoidal grille, now used in Europe across many models, including the Focus and Mondeo. Naturally, the multi-award winning EcoBoost engine is present in a wide array of variants, allowing the Fiesta to post impressive performance and/or crucial improvements in terms of fuel economy.

In Europe, between January and June a total of 173,999 Fiestas were delivered to customers, with the model soaring 3.6 percent compared to the same time frame last year. “Europeans love small cars and they have extremely high standards – so we are proud Fiesta remains at the top of the rank,” commented Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “Customers now have the widest ever choice of Fiesta models including the enhanced Fiesta ECOnetic and fashionable new color options such as Silver Silk.” In June alone sales reached 33,646 units and jumped 22.3 percent from the same period in 2014, thanks to the timely introduction of new colors, technical features, styling updates and new equipment.
