Former Citroen WRC driver, Philippe Bugalski, dies image

A former World Rally Championship driver for the Citroen team, Philippe Bugalski, has recently passed away at his home in Seine-et-Marne region, the east of France.

Philippe Bugalski, who was nicknamed “bug”, has signed with Citroen back in 1998 and one year later he managed to “offer” the automaker a first win behind the wheel of a XsaraKit Car in Catalonia and after that he also won in Corsica. Philippe Bugalski has retired from professional rallying 11 years ago, in 2003.

“I feel really upset by this tragic news. We’ve just lost somebody who was incredibly special. Bug was a person with a huge spirit, who had time and warmth for everyone”, said Sebastien Loeb in a statement for Citroen.

The French based automaker has confirmed his death and said that Philippe Bugalski has passed away after an unfortunate fall at his home in eastern France. Bug will be missed by everyone who is a fan of WRC and not only. May he rest in peace.
