Former NFL linebacker Bill Romanowski is a new minority owner and sponsor of Swan Racing, the single-car NASCAR Sprint Cup team announced on Thursday.
Majority owned by Brandon Davis, Swan Racing plans to enter next month’s season-opening Daytona 500 with two-time race winner Michael Waltrip behind the wheel. The team’s No. 30 Toyota will then be driven by David Stremme for the rest of the season, as Michael Waltrip is also a co-owner of his own NASCAR team.
“I am thrilled to jump into the NASCAR world. Brandon has a vision for how to build a championship contender and I’m eager to be part of it,” Romanowski said in a statement.
The former NFL star will also sponsor Swan Racing via his health-supplement company Nutrition53. Romanowski’s company will be the primary sponsor on Swan Racing’s car for 10 Cup races and an associate sponsor for the remaining 26 races of the season. Nutrition53 sells a line of supplemental health drinks and vitamins that focus on performance, weight loss and relieving sleep deprivation.
Bill Romanowski has appeared in five Super Bowls and played 16 seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders. He retired at the end of the 2003 season.
