Volkswagen has officially unveiled two new electric vehicles today, during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the e-Golf and the e-Up!.
The brand new Volkswagen e-Up! is based, as you probably already know, on the regular version of the Up!. The Volkswagen e-Golf is getting a larger 24.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and a more powerful electric motor, which is good for 114 HP (85 kW) and 199 lb-ft of torque. The 0 to 62 mph sprint takes 10.4 seconds in this version and top speed has been electronically limited to 87 mph. The total range of the car stands at 118 miles. VW says that both models are getting three drive modes, Normal, Eco and Eco+ and the e-Up! can be fully charged from a 230-volt socket in 9 hours, while the e-Golf’s battery takes 13 hours to recharge. The VW e-Golf and the e-Up! will be launched in spring 2014 in Europe and in North America and Asia in late 2014 or early 2015.
