At the 2011 Frankfurt Motor show, for the third time, Toyota previewed it’s FT86, but again in a concept form! First it was red, then black and now a burnt orange.
Anyway there is something new. For the first time (to our knowledge) the FT-86 is sporting a set of Brembo brakes, which is certainly good news for driving enthusiasts who are eager to get behind the wheel of this car.
The car is the fruit of a development project between Subaru and Toyota that will yield two rear-wheel drive sports coupes, one for each company.
It is rumored to be powered by a 4-cylinder boxer engine with a six-speed transmission in either manual or automatic.
The production version of the FT-86 II should appear sometime in 2012 along with Scion FR-S, which will be produced for North American markets. Subaru has named its car the BRZ.
