A couple of renderings with the upcoming generation of the Volkswagen Phaeton are showing us how the model may look like once it will be ready for its future customers.
Over these past few years, there have been a lot of reports on a new generation of the Volkswagen Phaeton and with time passing by, it seems that none of these was accurate. However, with the introduction of the new Volkswagen Passat, the automaker has given us the possibility of imagining how this may be looking like.
The creator of the two images posted below says to have drawn inspiration from the Volkswagen C Coupe GTE which have been brought to the shell of an Audi A8, but what we actually see is an enlarged Volkswagen Passat, from the new generation, with influences of the new Skoda Superb as well. Whether this will turn out to be accurate or not, only time can say, but for the moment, the German based automaker hasn’t announced any official details on a new Phaeton.
The current Volkswagen Phaeton has been in production since 2002 and it’s a full-size luxury sedan. It’s related to the Audi R8, the Bentley Continental GT and the Flying Spur and it has a longitudinal front-engine and 4Motion all-wheel drive layout. Engine lineup includes the 3.2 liter VR6, the 3.6 liter VR6, the 4.2 liter V8 and the 6.0 liter W12, in the petrol version, while diesel units include the 3.0 liter V6 TDI and the 5.0 liter V10 TDI.
