With the end of winter and the arrival of spring comes good driving weather and, with it, increasing prices for gasoline.
As of Monday, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $2.89 a gallon, and approximately $2.78 in neighboring Virginia. The national average price was about $2.80, up from $2.05 a year ago. Locally, gasoline was selling for about $2.87 in Princeton, $2.74 in Bluefield, Va. and $2.79 in Tazewell, Va.
The national gasoline average is $.80 above the price this time last year. Diesel fuel is $.85 above this time last year.
