U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has recorded a patent application from Cadillac for an interesting “LTS” moniker that’s expected to be used on an upcoming vehicle.
This doesn’t necessarily mean the company will actually use the name, but Car & Driver points out that General Motors is pretty conservative when it comes to trademarks.
However reports suggest the name is for a new large touring sedan Cadillac is working on as the new flagship, which is supposed to rival cars like BMW 7-Series and Mercedes S-Class.
As the L in LTS suggests “luxury” or “long-wheel-base,” speculators are looking forward to an all-new rear-wheel-drive full-size luxury sedan using General Motor’s existing Omega platform.
Either way, time will tell as we see Cadillac’s future and exclusive modular architecture unfold in different variations.
