Hyundai has decided they need their own premium brand and thus birthed the Genesis division – and the automaker has now premiered their first ever special edition model at home in Seoul.
The G90 Special Edition has been presented in front of the worldwide audience of the 2017 Seoul Motor Show, and will become later available for orders after completing some promotional activities around the world. The aptly named Special Edition started life as a regular G90 in the high-grade trim level and featuring the 5.0-liter V8 engine. It now encompasses things such as custom paints that were never used on a Hyundai or Genesis, with each production car delivered in a two-paint color scheme, made to “express the personality and splendor of the car.” The cabin features leather, wood, and aluminum decorations – while nubuck leather is used for the seats, door cards, and armrests, for “a luxurious yet comfortable and cozy atmosphere.”
“The Genesis brand is a lifestyle brand that not only introduces products that drive customers’ desire to buy with sensational design, but also positively impacts customers’ lives,” said Manfred Fitzgerald, General Strategy Manager of Genesis. In addition, the company announced at Seoul their second new model – the G70 – will become official sometime during the second half of this year. Next up a first ever plug-in hybrid will appear in 2019, followed by the brand’s first electric model in 2021.
