The Italian design company Italdesign Giugiaro has recently revealed the Brivido Concept, at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
After the company has teased its latest creation for a few times ahead of its debut, the Italdesign Giugiaro Brivido Concept has been finally presented to the public during the Swiss automotive event. According to the manufacturer, the Brivido Concept has been designed as an ultra-luxury GT sports car, whose main focus is passenger comfort.
“This is a quest for a genuine four seater, to offer comfort and visibility, especially for the rear passengers, which is usually sacrificed in this type of vehicle”, as Giorgetto Giugiaro says.
Under the hood, the Italdesign Giugiaro Brivido Concept is coming with a hybrid powertrain, combining a 3.0 liter engine, which is developing 360 horsepower and an electric motor, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, but no extra details have been given yet. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time takes 5.8 seconds and the model can reach a top speed of 275 km/h (171 mph).
Italdesign Giugiaro says that the Brivido Concept is a fully functioning road-capable vehicle, and its interior technology is coming courtesy of the Volkswagen Group Electronics Research Lab (ERL) in collaboration with the Italdesign Giugiaro, in order to bring an iPad integration system on the passenger side of the dashboard which can control the access online content, the navigation system and the media.
The Italdesign Giugiaro Brivido Concept is also coming with an innovative steering column, on top of which two monitors are showing images from the side and rear cameras. The main controls of the model have been housed on two touch sensitive panels on the spokes of the steering wheel, and on the left-hand panel the driver can operate the lights, infotainment and graphic interface while the right-hand panel can be used for the climate control.
