Geneva: Morgan Plus E Concept revealed image

Morgan has recently revealed the Plus E Concept car during the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, which is basically coming as an electric vehicle.

According to the car manufacturer, the Morgan Plus E Concept is based on the Plus 8, but the model is powered by a Zytek electric motor, which is “helped” by a lithium-ion battery, enabling the car to travel up to 120 miles or 193 km on a single charge. Morgan says that the electric motor is generating a total output of 160 BHP and it has a peak torque of 280 lb-ft (280 Nm), being mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

“We wanted to see how much fun you can have in an electric sports car, so we have built one to help us find out. The Plus E combines Morgan’s traditional look with high-technology construction and a powertrain that delivers substantial torque instantly at any speed. With the manual gearbox to increase both touring range and drive involvement, it will be a fantastic car to drive”, as Steve Morris, the company’s operations director, says.

The Morgan Plus E Concept has a total weight of 1,250 kg (2,756 lbs) and the roadster can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.0 seconds before reaching a top speed of 185 km/h or 115 mph.
