The recently gone independent subbrand DS Automobiles has taken the wraps off the E-Tense concept during the ongoing Geneva Motor Show.
The upscale brand has revealed the E-Tense concept as their view concerning the high-performance electric vehicle segment and we’re being treated here to a stylish and impressive concept with a coupe body. The prototype is also designed to highlight the first year of existence of DS Automobiles as a standalone marquee and this electric grand tourer has a design that continues the lines introduced with the Divine DS concept. Dimensions stand at 4.12 meters in length, 2.08 meters in width and a very sleek and low height of just 1.29 meters for a very dramatic side viewing. The interesting design is also supported with the powertrain choice: 402 horsepower (300 kilowatts) and an instant torque of 381 pound-feet (516 Newton meters) are available for the driver in order to reach 62 miles (100 kilometers) per hour in only four and a half seconds and then go as fast as 155 mph (250 km/h). The electric range is not really spectacular – the lithium-ion battery pack will last for up to 224 miles (360 km) in the city or as much as 192 miles (310 km) when using the combined cycle.
The concept is reaching the tarmac with its 20-inch alloy wheels with unique Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and has carbon monocoque chassis – but still tips the scales at a hefty 3,968 pounds (1,800 kg), mostly due to the battery pack. It also has an independent superimposed double wishbone suspension and the interior comes with a custom job including a cold steel accent dashboard and a steering wheel shaped like a tulip. There’s also a 10-inch infotainment system with a Focal 640-watt, nine-speaker sound system.
