The Italian automaker is coming back after the company went into liquidation in 2004. For the 2011 Geneva Motor Show the company will unveil the SLC 4WD crossover.
The De Tomaso SLC will be have a large crossover body type, which will basically mean it will go head to head against cars like the X6, the Cayenne, the Lexus RX, and the Acura ZDX. Pininfarina will design it. Pininfarina or not – this concept looks a little bit similar to Cadillac’s SRX.
Built on an aluminum chassis, using a construction method called Univis (???), this new crossover will be offered with 542bhp V8 and 296bhp V6 petrol engines and a 247bhp V6 diesel.
The all wheel drive SLC (this is only the stage name, the production version to be called differently) will be built at the Grugliasco plant, with the output target set at 3,000 units a year.
Prices are set to start at around €85,000 (£71,000).
