German automakers, Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Porsche reported amazing sales increases in the US for June.
Audi hit its best June results ever and the best first half since it began selling its vehicles in the States. The company said that its premium segment increased 19% last month, with the Audi Q5 and Q7 sales remaining strong. Overall sales went up 8.2% to 13,706 units and 14% to 74,277 units this year so far.
BMW Group’s sales increased 21.4% to 33,645 units, with the BMW brand up 24.6% to 27,074 units. The German automaker’s best-selling models were the 3 Series which increased 62.6% to 10,957 units, the 6 Series which increased 119.5% to 1,409 units, the 7 Series which rose 58.6% to 855 units and the X3 SAV up 5.5% to 2,981 units. Sales of the BMW brand increased 11% year-to-date.
Mercedes sales in the US increased 7% to 27,162 units, with Mercedes-Benz brand up 9.8% to 24,415 units and 141,950 units year-to-date. The Sprinter Vans recorded strong sales with 9,483 units sold year-to-date. The automaker sold 90,650 passenger vehicles in June, up 10.2%, from 82,275 units in June 2012.
Porsche said that sales for its sports cars, the Panamera and Cayenne SUVs increased 23.2% in June to 3,700 units, the best June in the automaker’s history. Porsche sold 21,309 units in the States, up 30%, sales of the Boxter and Cayman up 65% last month and the Cayenne up 76%.
