Former Formula One driver Giancarlo Fisichella plans to return to the International Superstars Series for the season finale in Vallelunga, near Rome.
The series announced on Friday that it had chosen the Rome track for the championship finale on October 12-13. Fisichella entered last year’s Vallelunga round in a Maserati and finished eight in both races.
The three-time grand prix winner turned sportscar driver said he was determined to enter his home event this year. “Rome will be hosting an international motorsports event again in 2013 and it’s a great satisfaction to have it confirmed. In 2012 I raced with a Maserati Quattroporte and it was exciting to see so many people at the track, a colour-filled paddock and the grandstands packed with fans cheering for me,” Fisichella told Autosport.com.
“It was a sensational experience, because Vallelunga is my home circuit and I look forward to being back this season too,” the Italian driver added. In 2012, the Vallelunga Superstars event attracted 33,000 spectators.
2013 Superstars schedule:
April 7 Monza

June 9 Slovakia Ring
