GM Begins Production of the Cadillac XTS by the End of the Year image

Marketing and Sales Director for Shanghai GM’s Cadillac brand Chen Weixu announced that by the end of the year the Cadillac XTS will be built in China.

Earlier this month, GM CEO Dan Akerson said that the automaker will introduce in the Chinese market new domestically manufactured model annually until 2016. This year’s model is the Cadillac XTS, but no information was given about the next year’s model. Mr. Chen said that those who are interested in the upcoming models can take a look overseas and watch the steps the automaker is taking for its Cadillac brand in the States.

The production plans for the new Cadillac models to be introduced in the Chinese market will go hand in hand with those in the American market. In October the entry-level Cadillac ATS is expected to make its debut in the US. The luxury sedan will come with three engine options: a 2.5 L I4 engine, a 2.0 L turbocharged engine or 3.6 L V6 engine, with either six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. When it hits the Chinese market, the ATS will most likely be offered at the price of 300,000 yuan ($47,434), being placed next to Audi A4L and BMW 3 Series.
