Today, June 26th, GM officially announced it has named Alan Batey as Chevrolet’s senior vice president.
Alan Batey will also be the head if US Sales, Service and Marketing for Chevrolet, Buick and GMC. Batey will report directly to GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson in his Chevrolet role and to GM North America president Mark Reuss in the U.S. Sales, Service and Marketing role. “Chevrolet is our mainstream global brand, and with the growth we are experiencing and the barrage of new products we have coming, the time is right for us to have a single leader responsible for managing the brand around the world,” said Akerson. “Alan Batey has worked in markets all over the world, has demonstrated the ability to deliver great business results and understands how to balance global brand consistency while maintaining the local voice of the customer.”
Bate joined GM in 1979, serving as a mechanical engineering apprentice for Vauxhall in the UK, and over the years he had senior management positions in the U.K., Middle East, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, Korea and the Netherlands. He joined the Chevrolet team in the US in 2010.
