GM’s sales in China increased 10.5% last month to 244, 266 units, after an August increase of just 1.7%.
In September Shanghai GM’s sales in China increased 3.7% to 120, 010 units, SAIC-GM-Wuling’s sales were up 0.4% to 119, 510 units reaching a new September record and FAW-GM’s sales fell 5.0% to 4,581 units.
Chevrolet sold 56, 166 vehicles in China last month, reaching a new September record and an increase of 3.2%. Sales were led by the Sail, which sold 18,786 units and the Cruze with 18,338 units, followed by the Malibu with a record monthly-sale of 8,280 units.
Buick sold 62,120 units in China last month, down 1.8%, with sales of the original Excelle family reaching 23,186 units, followed by the Excelle XT and GT with 15,311 units and the Regal with 9,026 units. Cadillac sold 2,585 units in China, down 8.3%, led by the SRX luxury utility vehicle with 1,800 units sold.
Wuling’s China sales reached 109,502 units, down 2.5%, Baojun sold 9,147 units, an increase from 1,945 units sold in September last year. From January to September GM and its JVs in China sold a record 2,081,812 units, up10%, compared with the same period last year.
