GM reportedly working on sixth-generation Camaro image

General Motors is already working on the sixth-generation Camaro, which will be produced for the 2016 model year.

The information is not confirmed by General Motors but has surfaced on gminsidenews.com. According to the website, „the 6th gen Camaro has already shown up within the GM product system as a 2016 MY. That means, it could get here as early as 36 months from now.”

The sources quoted by GMI also confirmed that the next Camaro will be available with a new generation of the 6.2-liter V8 engine. „The availability of Gen V 6.2L V8 is also confirmed,” GMI wrote. The next Camaro is expected to be lighter than the current model, often criticized for its overweight issues. Its main rival, the Ford Mustang, is lighter and more fun to drive as a consequence.

That may be the path GM will choose as well for its new Camaro, aiming to give it a more dynamic character. Of course, Ford will not wait during this time, with the next Mustang expected to be also lighter than the current model.
