Motor Trend is reporting yet again that the GMC Granite has been confirmed for production, even going so far to say that the road-going car will keep the rear-hinged suicide door setup of the concept.
The confirmation comes from a well-placed source, who says it will go to production with the trick suicide-style rear passenger doors in place.
Best guess for production is model year 2013 or ’14, with production beginning no earlier than the later part of 2012.

When the GMC Granite debuted as a concept car, it packed a 138 horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four, the same engine as the Cruze. That motor was connected to a six-speed manual transmission, although, this being America, it will likely feature an automaker when, and if, it hits dealers lots.
