Feb.18 (GMM/Inautonews.com) There appears to be good and bad news this week in the world of Fernando Alonso.

The good news, according to the Spanish gossip magazine Diez Minutos, is that the McLaren-Honda driver is engaged to his girlfriend Lara Alvarez, a TV presenter.

Alvarez, 29, may also be pregnant, with their wedding reportedly to take place in Dubai or the Maldives by the end of the year.

El Pais newspaper declared: “We contacted the representative of the F1 driver, who said he knows nothing about the matter.”

As for the bad news, there are reports in the specialist Spanish sports press that not all is well with Honda’s preparations for the 2016 season.

Earlier, Marca newspaper claimed that while the Japanese carmaker’s 2016 engine is more powerful than its woeful predecessor, the new and larger turbo unit has proved unreliable on the test benches.

Now, a Marca headline declares that Honda could take “the engine from 2015″ to the first of just two pre-season tests in Barcelona from early next week.

Glad to hear he and Lara are happy and maybe looking forward to starting a family………but please lets not see Honda produce another garbage power unit that leaves him struggling to show his talent!!! If McLaren/Honda are 5hit again this year then Im done and finished watching this clown circus run by Shekelstone and Toad!!!

I wouldn’t pay too much attention to Spanish F1 reporting. During Hamilton’s test drives at the beginning of that infamous season with Alonso at McLaren, they were reporting fairly consistently that Hamilton’s performance was so bad McLaren were considering pulling him and replacing him with De La Rosa. We all know what happened when the starting flag went down. Then it was all about how disloyal it was for the junior driver to beat the senior driver. They’re just preparing the ground so that if Alonso isn’t at the front, everyone knows who’s fault it is, and if he’s at the front, he’s clearly the best driver in the world. If Button scores more, it’ll be down to the English team favouring the English driver. Objectivity isn’t a strong point.
