The tires equipping the all new Porsche 911 will be the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. This tire will be used for the popular 19 inch wheels fitted to the Carrera 2. With the wide tire at the back, measuring 285/35 and slightly narrower tire at the front at a still respectable 235/40 dimension.
Porsches flagship, the 911 boasts RWD and rear engine configuration, a very unusual configuration today but this is the definitive trait of its character. The engine at the back is a 350 hp with 380 Nm of torque from Zuffenhausens 3.4 liter 6, 3 a bank, boxer engine.
Despites it’s racing pedigree and horsepower, it uses 1.6 liters /100km less than the last 997 variant of the 911. The Egale F1 A2 has Goodyear’s Fuel Saving technology, reducing tire weight and a silica grade “high surface” that reduces heat generation thus lowering the tire resistance. The latest Active Breaking Technology coupled with the new innovative 3D block design within the tire tread is used in the latest A2.
The new A2’s cavity shape and tread stiffness offer a 10% longer life now. Rolling resistance has become best in class, which is odd since grip is better than before. Also test have shown that the reduction due to the new Active Breaking Technology reduces stopping distances up to three meters in the wet and to meters in the dry, according to TUV SUD Automotive against three competitors.
