The Gordon Murray Design, headed by the legendary McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray, has just revealed its new prototype in the form of a rear-wheel drive electric sports car, with a total weight of just 850 kilograms.
The electric vehicles are getting more and more popular and new, interesting models are announced almost every day, and the GMD prototype is just one of them.
Being commissioned by the carbon fiber specialist Toray Industries Inc. to make a new two-seat sports car, Gordon Murray started working on it and the result is named Teewave AR.1.
According to autocar.co.uk, the Teewave AR.1 is using an electric powertrain from the Mitsubishi iMiEV, generating 63 BHP and 133 lb-ft of torque, with its 16 kWh lithium-ion battery back and a total weight of just 850 kilograms.
Even if the eco-friendly vehicle sounds fast, it isn’t, and its creator says that it can do the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in 11.4 seconds, with a top speed of just 91 mph and a range of 116 miles, so Murray has a long way to go until the its car will become as iconic as the McLaren F1.
