Great Wall Motor, based in Baoding near Beijing, will be the first Chinese automotive brand to enter the UK.
The truck and SUV maker will unveil next month at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, the Steed, which is a compact double-cab pickup, a version of the home-market Wingle. The producer declared that the model will have the lowest purchase price of any double-cab pickup, starting from around $22,300, and will feature class-leading fuel economy.
The basic Steed comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, four-wheel drive and six-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle will go on sale at the end of April, after its local debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham on April 24. The Steed goes on sale through a brand-new, nationwide network of 40 Great Wall dealers.
