The Green Car Journal has recently released the list with the finalists for the 2014 Green Car of the Year Award, which includes some interesting names.
With the NACTOY (North American Car and Truck of the Year) winners being announced in a few months, along with the World Car of the Year and European Car of the Year, time has come to talk about a new award, which includes some electric, hybrid and “normal” cars. The award is named the 2014 Green Car of the Year and rather than including some new diesel powered cars, with a huge range, it has some popular EVs and hybrids on it.
“The diversity of this field of finalists illustrates not only that ‘green’ has gone mainstream, but also that there is no single approach to achieving ever higher levels of fuel efficiency and environmental performance”, said the editor and publisher of Green Car Journal, Ron Cogan.
The short list of the 2014 Green Car of the Year finalists includes the impressive Tesla Model S, the brand new BMW i3 or the Honda Accord, which is basically the only hybrid or plug-in hybrid on the list. The other two vehicles to make their way onto the list are the brand new Mazda3 and the Toyota Corolla, in the Eco trim. The winner of the 2104 Green Car of the Year will be announced during the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, next month.
