Or Mr. Slowly, as some like to call him. Yes, James May has officially quit the already dead Top Gear and he now needs money to pay for his newest ride, the Ferrari 458 Speciale.
James May is currently unemployed and since he has ordered the last example of the Ferrari 458 Speciale, he now needs a well paid job so he can afford it. If you were hoping to hire him as your baby sitter, think again, because chances are your child will develop ADHD. Jokes aside, buying the new Italian supercar was Captain Slow’s way of celebrating the new 3-year deal, which was about to happen right after Clarkson screwed it up. Meanwhile, Richard Hammond is bored and driving a 1931 Lagonda, as you can see in this clip.
The Ferrari 458 Speciale is basically the spiritual successor of the 360 Challenge and the F430 Scuderia and it is basically the range-topping version of the supercar. The model in question has been unveiled, in its coupe form, back in 2013, during the Frankfurt Motor Show and, since then, it was also offered in a roadster body style, the so-called 458 Speciale A (Aperta). The same 4.5 liter V8 naturally aspirated engine is found under its hood as the one from the regular 458 but this is now rated at 605 HP (445 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) it needs 3s and it can reach 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.1s.
