The French based automaker Renault has released a new teaser photo with the more hardcore version of the Megane RS Trophy, ahead of its public debut, which will take place on the 16th of June.
Renault has used to hold the title for the fastest front-wheel drive production car on the Nurburgring, for quite some time, but this has been lost in favor of the Seat Leon Cupra 280, which managed to lap the famous German track in 7 minutes and 58.4 seconds. Seat’s supremacy is about to be lost because Renault has developed a more hardcore version of the Megane RS Trophy, which is said to complete a lap around the Nurburgring in under 8 minutes.
The company didn’t reveal the name of the hot hatch which has received this tough job but rumors are saying that this will be a special edition of the Megane RS Trophy which will receive a custom Akrapovic exhaust system with carbon fiber cover. Power will be provided by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which will produce more than the current 265 HP (195 kW) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) of torque. The model in question will be officially unveiled on June 16.
