The World Car Awards, which takes charge in organizing the 2016 World Car of the Year competition, has recently unveiled the list of finalists for this year’s award.
The list has been compiled by a jury of 73 international automotive journalists and has the Audi A4, BMW X1, Hyundai Tucson, Jaguar XE, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Mazda CX-3, Mazda MX-5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Skoda Superb and Toyota Prius. The organization also decided to reveal the short list of finalists that will compete in a separate event – World Luxury Car of the Year: Audi Q7, BMW 7 Series, Jaguar XF, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and the Volvo XC90. There are another five models going head to head in the quest for the title of World Performance Car of the Year: Audi R8, Chevrole Camaro, Honda Civic Type R, Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe and the Range Rover Sport SVR.
There’s also a section reserved to the finalists of the World Green Car of the Year award: BMW 330e, Chevrolet Volt, Toyota Prius, Toyota Mirai and Volkswagen Passat GTE. Last, but not least is the list of contenders for the World Car Design of the Year title: Cadillac CT6, Mazda CX-3, Maxda MX-5, Jaguar XE and the Land Rover Discovery Sport. The winners will be known during the New York Auto Show on March 24 but of course before that everyone can have a go and pick its favorites.
