ABT Sportsline is well known for its modifications of the four-ringed brand headquartered in Ingolstadt’s models – and today is no exception: we’re treating you to a mod for the Audi SQ5 high-performance diesel SUV.
If we did our homework well, we should remember that Audi itself this year introduced its own “tuned” version of the SQ5 in the form of the Audi SQ5 TDI plus that aimed to deliver the amenities of true tuners albeit from the start (and with all profits going to the automaker). The plus model featured – among other tweaks – a sensible power jump from 313 PS (230 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) to 340 PS (250 kW) and 700 Nm (517 lb-ft), squeezed from the twin-turbo 3.0-liter TDI engine. Now ABT Sportsline has also decided to update its own tuning program for the model – it previously delivered 360 PS and 700 Nm – and the new iteration comes with a subtle power increase to 365 PS (268 kW) and a transmission killing 710 Nm (524 lb-ft) of torque.
With such a minor power tweak the tuner hasn’t bothered releasing the performance figures but we imagine it would still be quicker off the line than the regular SQ5 TDI plus that performs the standstill drag to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.1 seconds and tops out at the regular, electronically-limited 155 mph (250 km/h). Besides the power upgrades, ABT also delivers subtle design tweaks via a very serious aero body kit that encompasses a modified front grille and skirt, fender extensions, door strip attachments and rear wing. Owners can also have numerous wheel choices between 20 and 22 inches and if you still have money to spend you can also invest in having wheel spacers or an adjustable suspension kit.
