The South Koresn based automaker Kia has recently confirmed a high performance version of the Cee’d model, which will hit the Old Continent sometimes next year.
After a rumor appeared in the automotive media which said that a hot hatch version of the Cee’d is expected to hit the market soon, the South Korean based automaker did something unexpected and actually confirmed it. According to the Kia’s head of global public relations, Michael Choo, who spoke with Car & Driver, the model will arrive in Europe in 2013 and it will become available in three-door and five-door body styles.
The source mentioned above is also saying that the high performance version of the Kia Cee’d will also get a new sport tuned suspension and a four-cylinder 2.0 liter engine under its hood, which is expected to develop a total output of 220 or 230 horsepower (223 – 233 PS / 164 / 172 kW). The output developed by its engine won’t be enough to rival the Golf GTI or the Astra OPC but, then again, everyone has to start from somewhere. Unfortunately we don’t have any more details on the high performance version of the Kia Cee’d but we will keep you updated on the subject once more info is known.
