Thai Honda Manufacturing celebrated today its 20 millionth engine manufactured on July 28th, at its new multi-purpose engine facility at the Lat Krabang Industrial Estate.

The ceremony was attended by officials and guests from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, associates and executives from Honda, Yuji Shiga, chief operating officer for the company’s power product operations and Hiroshi Kobayashi, chief operating officer for Honda’s regional operations in the Asia Oceania Region.

Thai Honda began to manufacture power products in Thailand in 1987 and in October 2007 it celebrated the 10 million-unit milestone. Almost five years later the company achieved the 20 million-unit milestone. The multi-purpose engine facility at the Lat Krabang Industrial Estate also produces the small-sized, lightweight and durable GX engines, trimmers and water pumps, with an annual production of almost 2.7 million units.

Thai Honda’s power products are sold in Thailand and the Asia Oceania region, and exported globally to 80 countries mainly from Europe, Japan and North America. The company will also transfer to this facility its power products development function of Honda R&D Southeast Asia. The company began production of vehicles in Thailand in May 1967 and in 1987 the multi-purpose engines. Currently Honda manufactures 2.7 million engines and 1.5 million motorcycles annually, employing 8,100 workers.
