Honda Civic Type R spied in the U.S. image

New spy photos are showing what is believed to be the North American version of the new Honda Civic Type R being tested out.

The development of a new range topping version of the Honda Civic, the Civic Type R, is no longer a surprise considering the fact that the model in question has been already confirmed by the Japanese based automaker, but if you thought that the hot hatch is just around the corner, think again, because it is still being tested out in various mules. The newest spy shots of the hot hatch are coming in from over-seas, in Ohio, and they are showing a camouflaged version of it. Don’t expect any spectacular reveal because the test mule is still wearing a lot of camouflage on its body.

The upcoming Honda Civic Type R will easily be differentiated from the standard model thanks to its aggressive body kit, which will be adding the different front and rear bumpers, the extended front fenders, the aerodynamic side skirts, the prominent rear wing, the rear diffuser and so on. A four tailpipe exhaust system will be added too, along with large wheels. Under the hood, the hot hatch is said to be taking its power from a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which should send 320 HP to the wheels. The Civic Type R will rival the Golf R, the Focus RS, the Megane RS or the A45 AMG. More details on it are limited at the time.
