The Japanese based automaker Honda has recently announced that the Mugen CR-Z GT race car, which will compete in the Super GT Series, will feature a twin-turbo V6 engine.
According to the car manufacturer, the Honda Mugen CR-Z GT race car will also get an aggressive body kit which, besides making it look more appealing to the company’s fans, it has a big role in increasing the drag coefficient, keeping the vehicle on the road and increase its maneuverability. Honda says that the Mugen CR-Z GT race car will make its debut in the Super GT Series and, even if performance specifications haven’t been released, we know that the model is getting a hybrid system.
“Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced its intent to provide technical support to Team Mugen, operated by M-TEC Co., Ltd., for its competition with the MUGEN CR-Z GT in the GT300 class of SUPER GT Series. Honda will supply a 2.8-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and the racing hybrid system developed exclusively for this Team Mugen racing machine and will start actual test runs.”, as the car manufacturer is saying in its official press release.
The Honda Mugen CR-Z GT is powered by new 2.8 liter twin-turbo V6 engine and a specially-developed hybrid system and, even if no performance details have been announced, it will definitely go way beyond the standard vehicle’s total output of 122 HP and 173 Nm of torque. The Honda Mugen CR-Z GT will make its racing debut on the 28th of July.
