A new report is indicating that a hotter version of the new Honda NSX, the NSX Type R, will be introduced sometimes in 2018.
Ever since we have seen the new Honda NSX a few months back, rumors on the carmaker working on an even hotter version of the sports car have emerged and now, the most recent one is telling us that such a model will indeed hit the market, but not before 2018. According to the guys from Motoring, the vehicle will be in its Type R specification and our source is quoting the NSX’s chief engineer, Ted Klaus. The sports car will be coming with more than 600 HP (447 kW), from the petrol burner, along with a more aggressive looks on its exterior.
The regular version of the Honda NSX is coming with an evolutionary styling which is making it instantly recognizable. The model has been brought to Europe recently, during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, and it is said to have a twin turbo V6 engine under its hood, which is capable of putting down more than 550 HP. The internal combustion unit is backed up by three electric motors, two mounted up front for torque vectoring and one fitted to the rear, between the V6 engine and the new 9-speed automatic transmission. Power is sent to both axles and this is forming the so-called Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
