Honda Previews 2012 Honda CR-V; Thai Floods could delay launch image

Honda Motor Co has posted a smattering of teaser photos and desktop wallpapers showing the upcoming CR-V compact SUV model.

The automaker said that its new CR-V has been developed on a new platform and promises increased interior space, a lower height and a lower load floor.

But Honda is the most affected Japanese automaker in Thailand.

Honda will temporarily adjust automobile production at all six Honda auto plants in the U.S. and Canada. Currently, it is anticipated that this situation will require adjustments for the next several weeks. In addition, auto production will be at approximately 50% of the original plan through Nov. 10.

Subsequent adjustments will be announced as they are determined based on the parts supply situation. All Saturday overtime work will be canceled through November.

The automaker officially announced that its 2012 Honda CR-V could potentially be delayed by several weeks.

Even if in 2012 almost 90 percent of the Honda and Acura automobiles sold in the United States were produced in North America, a series of important components were imported from Thailand and other regions of the world.

The automaker, which makes the Accord and Civic sedans, said Monday that net profit for the July-September fiscal second quarter fell to 60.4 billion yen ($788 million).
