The brand new Honda S660 sports car is believed to spawn an international variant which should be powered by a larger engine.
After leaking just a few days ago and recently getting its first drive review on its local market, the brand new Honda S660 is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the help of a report, which is stating that the model might gain an international variant with a more powerful engine under its hood. According to the guys from CarSales, the roadster should gain a 1.0 liter turbocharged engine, in the international version, which should develop more than 127 HP (95 kW). This will be connected to a 6-speed manual transmission which will be specifically designed for it.
Our source is also saying that unlike the S660, chances are the “new” model will be called the S1000, a reference to the iconic S2000 sports car. The current model has a 650cc 3-cylinder turbocharged engine under its hood, which is capable of producing a total output of 63 HP (47 kW). The unit is mid-mounted and therefore it is expected to be highly maneuverable. On the more powerful international version, the model should get a widen rear axle too. This should be introduced as early as next year, so if you are waiting for it, you should be patient. More details on the brand new Honda S660 are limited for the moment and will probably be announced over the next few months.
