Honda has confirmed that it will display a compact Urban SUV Concept at the Detroit Motor Show.
The Civic-based SUV concept will debut in January 2013 in Detroit and is likely to reach production in late 2013. With this car, Honda will try to follow in the footsteps of Nissan and its successful Qashqai model. The Urban SUV Concept „is a global concept model combining a sporty and dynamic SUV profile with a spacious, functional interior,” reads Honda’s press release.
Honda released a teaser sketch of the show car, which appears in a dark environment. However, the proportions and some design details are clear to see. The concept sports a low coupe-like roof and big wheelarches which give the car a dynamic look. The signature line of the car is a bold upturned crease that joins the window line to create a point in the C-pillar.
The sketch doesn’t allow us to see the rear door handle, which may be hidden in the C-pillar. The turbine-style wheels, the roof spoiler and the narrow head and tail lights can also be spotted in the image. Honda didn’t offer many details, except that the Urban SUV Concept is a global model.
