Honda to offer the Civic in the U.S. image

The Honda Civic 5-door hatchback is said to be introduced in the United States in the near future.

Honda has some big plans for its vehicles and one of them is the introduction of the 5-door Civic hatchback in the United States. This is part of a report published by business magazine Nikkei and it is said to happen in the summer of 2016. Our source is stating that 30,000 to 40,000 units of the hatchback should be imported and this is what is actually telling us that the regular version of the model will be ending up on American shores and not just the Civic Type R.

Rumor has it that the Honda Civic will be taking its power, in its new market, from a 1.8 liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which should be producing a total of 150 HP. The unit should be connected to a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission and it may be followed by a 1.5 liter VTEC, which will be more powerful.

The new Honda Civic Type R will also play a major role in the Civic imports as this will be introduced in the United States too. This should get the same 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol burner under its hood as the European version, rated at 310 HP (228 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration takes just 5.7 seconds and top speed stands at 270 km/h (167 mph).
