Well, since we are talking about the new generation of the muscle car, the only acceptable answer is “Yes!”.
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is being placed into the spotlights once again, after being officially unveiled just a few weeks back, this time with the help of two images which are showing it in its convertible body style. But before rushing over to your local Chevy dealership to place an order, you should know that these are nothing more than simple renderings, which have been put together by Theophilus Chin.
The new generation of the Camaro has a completely new design which will be helping it compete with the Ford Mustang, which is also in its new generation. We’re not sure at this time whether GM is considering a rival for the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat but we do know the engine lineup available for the muscle car and this will include the 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit, which will be rivaling the Ford Mustang EcoBoost. This is coming with 275 HP (205 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, allowing the vehicle to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 6 seconds. The 3.6 liter V6 is next in the lineup and this is coming with 335 HP (250 kW) and 385 Nm (284 lb-ft) of torque, connected to a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. The range-topping variant, the Camaro SS, will be getting the 6.2l V8 engine, producing 455 HP (339 kW) and 617 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque.
