Hyundai decided that its i10 model isn’t small enough so the South Korean automaker has announced that a new model will enter its lineup, the Eon.
According to Hyundai, the new Eon will be launched in India where the manufacturer has a big competition from the best seller, the Maruti Alto, or from the local Tata Nano, but we are pretty sure it can’t compete with the Nano at its price.
The sketches released by Hyundai reveal a small five-door hatchback with the company’s hexagon grille, long headlamps and wavy lines while the rear end is unmistakable with those vertical lamps. The interior design is simple and practical because the automaker will have to rival in India with the cheapest car in production, the Nano.
Rumors are that the new Hyundai model is not sharing the platform with the small i10 and the same rumors say that its power comes from a small 814 cc SOHC three-cylinder petrol engine which is delivering 56 PS and 75 Nm of torque.
The new Hyundai Eon is expected to be priced at 2.5 – 3 lakh rupees or RM 16.2k to RM 19.5k.
