Hyundai has officially announced a new recall, this time for the Elantra Touring, because of some problems with the side airbag.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are a total of 58,000 units of the Hyundai Elantra Touring which will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers. The NHTSA says that the support bracket attached to the headliner which might detach to it, case of a crash.
“The affected vehicles have a support bracket attached to the headliner that may become displaced during a side curtain airbag deployment. If the headliner support bracket makes contact with an occupant during a crash, it may cause a laceration injury”, said the NHTSA in its official press release.
Hyundai says that the vehicles affected by this recall will include the Elantra Touring, from the 2010 – 2012 model year, which in question will be notified by Hyundai and the repairs / replacements will all be made free of charge.
