The South Korean based automaker Hyundai is planning to introduce a hot version of the i30, the RS, at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
While the smaller brother, the i20, has received a WRC version aimed towards the prestigious competition, the i30 is getting ready to get an RS variant, which will be street legal and should steal some of the customers of the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Renault Megane RS, Ford Focus ST, Opel Astra OPC or Alfa Romeo Giuletta QV. The new Hyundai i30 will be officially presented to the public in a world premiere next year, at the Geneva Motor Show, along with other models made by the company.
Rumor has it that the new Hyundai i30 RS will get the same engine as the Veloster Turbo, the 1.6 liter turbocharged engine, which should produce a total output of 200 horsepower. Besides the interesting unit, the Hyundai i30 RS will also get a body kit which will make it look more aggressive, along with 19-inch alloy wheels. Changes will be applied to the interior too, where the hot hatch will receive bucket seats, new instrument clusters and aluminum inserts. A double clutch transmission might help the engine but there is no official word on this for the moment.
