Together with the often leaked and spied third generation of the our spy photographs also caught a new model from the South Korean automaker. It’s not a passenger car though, but a new – and big – van.
The South Korean automaker, the largest carmaker in the country, already has a van in its line-up – the well-known H1. The testing session that gave our spy photographers the opportunity to catch a glimpse of both models – the ix35 and the new van – has become apparent that the company is ready to introduce a new van – larger than the H1.
The model looks ready to tackle the similar offerings from European automakers – such as the very popular Mercedes-Benz Sprinter line-up. Unfortunately, besides the shots with the heavily camouflaged prototype, not much info is available on the big people carrier. If a true competitor to the European rivals in the segment, than the new van should come in different sizes and configurations – able to carry goods, people or both.
The model caught in the photos is a high roofline version, with the checkered pattern allowing us to judge the model’s pertinence to the current Hyundai line-up – the van sports the design language, including the headlamps and radiator grille styling.
There is also no word on the engine line-up, although we can safely bet the van will at least carry over H1’s 2.5-litre CRDi diesel engine – most likely in its 170 hp iteration.
