The South Korean based automaker Hyundai has recently announced that a high performance version of the Veloster will be introduced to the UK auto market in the second half of 2012, after the model will be displayed at the next year’s Detroit Motor Show.
The high-performance version of the Veloster can be previewed by the model launched at the SEMA Motor Show just a day ago by ARK Performance, which is developing 210 horsepower from the standard 1.6 liter GDI direct injection engine after the unit has been upgraded with a new turbocharger and an intercooler system, along many other features.
Hopefully the Veloster Turbo won’t have anything in common with the extremely ugly body kit made by ARK Performance, but if you don’t know what we’re talking about, then you can take a look here.
Rumors say that the Hyundai Veloster Turbo will be powered by the same 2.0 liter, four-cylinder turbo engine found on the Optima SX Turbo, generating 208 HP at 6.000 rpm and with a peak torque of 195 lb-ft between 1.600 and 5.000 rpm, with the unit being ULEV-2 certified.
The Hyundai Veloster Turbo will be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2012 and will hit the US showrooms right after the event.
