Frozen food retailer Iceland has ordered 80 new trucks from Renault Trucks UK, after its inaugural purchase of 9 units in 2009, delivered in July 2011.

Besides the 18-tonne trucks 270.18 Midlum rigids, with refrigeration bodies, the company also ordered 71 Premium 4×2 460.18 EEV eco-friendly tractor units, with Privilege cabs, which were delivered between October 2011 and January 2012. This order takes Renault Trucks’ share of the 300+ fleet to 40%.

“Our Premium tractor units are performing well and the customer service from Renault Trucks has been excellent, including the Optifuel Infomax fleet management downloads,”

commented Iceland’s planning and contracts manager, David Rowlands, adding that the company also chose to add further Renault trucks to the fleet for the environmental benefits of the Premium’s EEV engine, the competitive package and the fuel efficiency record.

The vehicles will be delivered to Iceland’s 748 Stores nationwide, the trucks being ideal for deliveries to stores where access is restricted. Iceland is one of Britain’s fastest-growing food retailers, known for its great value, product innovation, and it has been recently dubbed as one of the best companies to work for in the U.K.
