IIHS names the Lancer and Outlander Sport 2013 Top Safety Picks

The Japanese based automaker Mitsubishi has recently announced that the Lancer Sedan, Lancer Sportback and the 2013 Outlander Sport have been named a Top Safety Pick.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just added a couple of Mitsubishi models to the growing list of 2013 Top Safety Picks and the prestigious safety award has been “handed over” to the Mitsubishi Lancer Sedan and Sportback and to the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Both vehicles have managed to impress the IIHS in the latest crash tests and they are offering enough protection to the occupants in order to be named a 2013 Top Safety Pick.

“Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has seen a pair of its 2013 vehicle offerings – the versatile and stylish Lancer compact sport sedan and the dynamic Outlander Sport compact crossover – named by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as ‘Top Safety Picks’”, as the automaker is saying in its official press release.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport compact crossover has been named for the second year in a row a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS. The model is rated by the EPA at 31 mpg on the highway and its available for its future customers starting at 19,170 USD. The 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer has been rated at 34 mpg on the highway by the EPA for the DE and ES models, equipped with the 2.0 liter engine.
