Being officially presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and hitting the 2010 Paris Motor Show under a hard-top four-seater body, the IPL G, with the Infiniti badge on it, will enter production this year as a convertible.
According to the auto maker, the 2013 IPL G Convertible will join the IPL G Coupe, and the full production of this version will make its official appearance, along with the JX, at the next Los Angeles Auto Show.
“The Infiniti Performance Line, as demonstrated by our first offering, the IPL G Coupe, challenges the concept of an ultra-high cost sports series. IPL pushes the premium performance envelope for buyers seeking a higher level of exclusivity and driving exhilaration, but does so with an Infiniti twist. The IPL G Convertible will deliver the goods, just like the current IPL G Coupe does. Plus, the new IPL G Convertible offers the added pleasure of open-air motoring”, said the Infiniti Americas vice president Ben Poore.
The IPL has a modified 3.7 liters engine, which is developing 348 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque, with a rear-wheel drive technology, connected to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
The IPL G Convertible, which actually stands for Infiniti Performance Line, is sitting on large 19 inch wheels, but its future customers will probably be disappointed from its 348 ponies under the hood, going for the German cars instead.
