Nissan’s luxury brand Infiniti is planning to develop a new sports car based on the popular GT-R model.
The rumor has actually been confirmed by the head of advanced planning for Infiniti in Tokyo, Francois Bancon, who recently told Car Magazine that the brand currently has three or four proposals on the table for a new top of the range model, and one of these vehicles is actually a GT-R based sports car. If the Nissan GT-R based Infiniti sports car will actually get the green light for production, we are expecting a softer sports car which will come with an extra price compared to its sister, but the new model is expected to be launched after 2015.
The Nissan GT-R is a sports car released in Japan in December 2007, reaching the United States in mid-2008 and finally in the rest of the world in 2009. The Nissan GT-R has been manufactured ever since 2007 and it’s coming as a two-door coupe, being powered by the 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 engine which is mated to a six-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. We don’t actually know the exact output developed by its engine because every GT-R is unique but the expected figure is less than 500 horsepower.
